"First photo 2012 - Second photo 2022. I was training 3-4 hours a day not consuming enough calories and only new to the sports nutrition industry with little knowledge on diet and supplementation. 89kg-114kg difference now I’m training 1 hour strength & conditioning AM and I’m 5 years into my Jiu-Jitsu journey training at GB Charlestown for my PM session. I won’t ever be the biggest or strongest in the game but I can educate you on what I’ve done to add 25kg to my frame with average genetics."

Our student Emily kindly shared how BJJ has changed her life. Have a look:
"I started training at Gracie Barra Charlestown 8 months ago hoping to improve my fitness and better understand the martial art that had captivated my partner. What I have gained is so much more - I am in the best physical shape of my life but I have also found the most beautiful community here having met truly amazing people who have challenged my way of thinking and living for the better. Training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu here has made me more confident as a women, a corporate professional and partner. I am able more effectively manage stress and the general ups and downs of life. I cannot thank the professors, coaches, staff and my training partners for everything and I would not hesitate to highly recommend stepping outside your comfort zone and giving it a go at Gracie Charlestown!"
One of our students Tamara, had an incident where she was stalked by a taxi driver for several months after being dropped home one night after a party. As a result Tamara suffered from stress and anxiety. She started training with us and our focus was to build up her confidence and some self defense skills. Training Brazilian Jiu jitsu has changed Tamara’s life and given her confidence back.
To begin with, our tiny champion Blayke was so shy and used to cry before getting on the mats to train. She never liked training with boys. After several weeks of training at Gracie Barra Charlestown Blayke became so confident, loves coming to training and is confident training with boys!
